Psalm 107

‘Give thanks to the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works of redemption!’ Psalm 107 opens a rich collection of psalms (107–118) celebrating God’s saving power. It begins with a call to thankfulness — not as abstract emotion, but as the response of rescued people. Whether lost, rebellious, foolish, or overwhelmed, all who cry to the Lord find his steadfast love ready to redeem. This first psalm sets the melody for the songs that follow: the King leads the way in trusting and thanking God, even in the face of enemies; and the great works of redemption unfold in chorus after chorus of praise.
