All Christians are Bible teachers

All Christians are Bible teachers. 2,000 years ago, on a mountain in Galilee, Jesus of Nazareth, having died and risen again to life, gathered his disciples to him, and he said these words: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. It was a command the earliest disciples gave their lives to obey, launching themselves across the known world and taking the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
It was a command passed on to Christians through the centuries who have across the world sought to hold fast to Jesus’ words in all things and teach them to others. And it is a command which is passed on to Christians now as we seek to know and love Jesus and teach him in the 21st century. All Christians are Bible teachers. For some, it is from the pulpit. For others, in Bible studies.
For others, it is speaking of Jesus in their school or workplace. And for others, it is the work of teaching Jesus to friends, family, neighbours, or even the strangers who do not yet know the life-giving words of the Lord. All Christians are Bible teachers. The Bible Matters podcast is a conversation with Bible teachers. Each week on the Bible Matters podcast, we’ll be sitting down with a Bible teacher from a variety of different backgrounds and asking them to give us an insight into their process of studying the Bible and teaching it in their context.
We’ll be asking about the principles which enable them to teach the Bible effectively, the lessons they’ve learned along the way, as well as the stories of God working in their ministry as the kingdom of the Lord Jesus is proclaimed. At Bible Matters, we believe that God works as his word is taught. As the gospel of the Lord Jesus is proclaimed through the life-giving words of the Bible, people are raised from spiritual death and given new life. Souls are lifted out of darkness to walk in Christ’s light. My name’s Leo Elbourne, and my name’s Tiff Stromso, and this is the Bible Matters podcast, encouraging faithful Bible teaching and ministry.
