Why should we speak about Jesus? At the biggest possible level, Paul’s letter to the Romans is about
speech. Paul’s great ambition is to go to Spain and to speak about Jesus, and his purpose in writing
this letter is so that his readers will back him on his great missionary trip. Why should the church want Paul to speak about Jesus? And why should ordinary Christians want to speak about Jesus? Romans 1–5 gives us ample reason to open our mouths joyfully to boast in our Lord Jesus Christ.
