Scripture: Luke 2:21–40
Like watchmen announcing that a beacon has been lit, so Simeon and Anna alert us to the arrival of God’s salvation. Describing Jesus as ‘a light for revelation to the nations’, Simeon draws on a rich Old Testament theme of God’s plan to save the world. Whoever we are, we would do well to pay close attention to his words.
