Preparation was made for the coming of Jesus with a summons to radical and deep-seated change. This is not surprising considering it was the arrival of God himself. It means that the Christian faith is not a hobby to be tacked on to a life or a label under which to subsume our own religious or moral views. Jesus brings a fresh start, with new priorities and a new power.
