The first half of John’s Gospel sets out seven hallmarks of present salvation, of authentic Christian experience. These are introduced in chapters 1–4; each is then fleshed out, one per chapter, in 5–11. In this talk, Dick considers the seventh hallmark, victory over death, in 4:43–54 and chapter 11.
