Each of the gospels devote significant space to the failure of the historic people of Israel in their response to Jesus. God’s determination to pour out his grace on this world remains unchecked by such failure. But the source of his grace has shifted from Israel as a nation to Jesus as his King. Whether a person receives the benefits that God wishes to lavish on his people is now entirely dependent upon response to Jesus.
