Why is it that people lose heart and give up on prayer? Jesus explains that it has to do with our understanding of the character of God and with our self-confidence. This parable works by way of comparison and contrast with an unjust judge. If even an unjust judge yields to the pleas of a desperate widow then surely God will hear and answer his people’s prayers. The question is – do we believe that God really is just?
