林前13章真的是为婚礼而量身定制的关于什么是爱的经文么？根据上下文我们发现保罗其实是用这段话来指责哥林多教会在爱心方面的缺乏。保罗在通过1到11章（请参考相关讲道系列）指责哥林多教会的众多不足，自高自大（1-4章），只追求个人属灵的恩赐却不关心别人的灵命（8-10章）。所以保罗在13章特意花笔墨来强调在教会中爱心的必要性。
保罗提醒哥林多教会无论什么样的恩赐如果缺乏了爱心都’无益’，也’算不得什么’（13:1-3）。
再者，信心和盼望到了新天新地以后都不再需要，只有爱心是永远长存的（13:8-13），所以与信和望相比，爱是最大的（13:13）。
在教会，在团契当中，我们是否像保罗在4-7里所说的那样，将我们自己的爱心是活出来？我们在哪些方面也像哥林多教会那样缺乏爱心了呢？

爱心的必要性
1 Corinthians 13:1-13
The Way of Love
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
