We are all used to the idea that if we tamper with something we may easily wreck it. Consider a contract that has been worked over and perfected or a great work of art. If an effective antidote to the pandemic were to be discovered it would be a brave medic who sought to tamper with it prior to vaccinating the patient. The spiritual benefits of what Jesus offers are similar. Jesus offers free forgiveness, a glorious relationship with God today and the assured certainty of heaven. But his offer comes with a warning label—no modification!
